Product Description What a quick way to create wavy or waffle cuts of potatoes, carrots, cucumbers, etc. The blade cuts in both directions for faster working. You can also select your desired thickness easily. This does not come with a safety holder and of course, it's best to use a safety holder when using any mandoline.

Works great. June 6, 2010 Mark Ginnetty 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
When it first arrived I was skeptical, the cutter is made of plastic and I was concerned that it wouldn't hold up very well, but after using it for months I am happy to say it works really well,
I did notice that if you bear down too hard when slicing, the potatoes will get caught a bit, but if you just push it along gently it will slide right through.
Caution June 4, 2010 Chris Robert (Ohio) The other comments referring to weight gain are entirely true. I have used this device repeatedly with spuds and the fryer and put on some pounds. It is worth it! The kids love it.
Borner multi box and v-wave waffle slicer March 25, 2010 Claudette A. Foster 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This product is great, my two year old son
loves veggies and fruit. And he loves the
different shapes. I purchased multi box and
the v-wave waffle slicer. I would gladly tell
a friend with or without childern.
REALLY Useful! January 30, 2010 Shell (Pine Valley, CA) This little slicer is the best new gadget I received this Christmas! I bought it primarily to make "Cross-Cut Fries" and for Carrot & Cucumber chips out of the garden this summer. It really works exceptionally well, but don't blow the extra money on the "holder". I also bought the full size "V-Slicer" which has the so-called holder in it, so if you buy this slicer with or after the V-Slicer, you won't need to buy it separately for THIS one. But I've got to give my honest opinion - the holder is - USELESS. It's made of a hard plastic that doesn't HOLD anything. You can't grip the fruit or veggie you're trying to slice, and you have to raise it repeatedly to run the next slice... it gets irritating Q-u-i-c-k-l-y.
So yes, I admit it. I slice my stuff "freehand", but I do it with complete attention - and I've learned a few things... reserve a hot pad... you know, like you use to take pans out of the oven... when your potato (or whatever you're slicing) gets down to about half-way (or 2-3 inches from the blade) place it in the center of the hotpad and then grip the hotpad. The one I use is a very thick quilt, but only 6-7 inches across - PERFECT for slicing. If you over estimate how much veggie you have left, the slicer WILL stop at the hotpad.
I've used this method every time, and feel very comfortable with it. If you are not satisfied with the "Holder" they offer, try THIS idea.
Other than that, this slicer AND the V-Slicer are both awesome products! The slices come out beautiful and uniform, and YOU decide what the thickness should be. Even in the slicing gauge, if the slice is too thick, run the veggie lightly, if it's too thin, press heavily. Between the 3 settings and the pressure you apply, you really have a vast array of thickness options.
Good luck - hope this helps.
One less reason to eat out. December 3, 2009 ega278 (NW Ohio) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Some of my favorite fries are waffle fries, and if I want them, I have to go to a particular local restaurant to get them. Not anymore! I'm extremely happy with my purchase, this thing makes them exactly like the ones I used to get at the restaurant. Although sweet potatoes are harder to run through, regular potatoes go through excellent. It's true, there is no holder for this item, so I ordered one when I ordered the slicer. The holder is alright, and works decently well, but I prefer to use the "Ove Glove" that I already have for using with my mandoline. The Ove Glove has kevlar in it so it will bind up in the blade instead of cutting through just in case you get a little to close. Plus you have much more dexterity with a glove than with a holder.
This is a great slicer, and I'm probably going to order another one to put in storage just in case anything ever happens to this one. I would just be beside myself if they stopped making this slicer and something happened to mine!
